Georgia had her first swim class this morning at the Y. Alex was the PITW (parent in the water) as planned and I dropped Rainer in the childwatch and went to watch the lesson. By the time I got into the nataorium Georgia was all smiles in the water. What a relief! I know she likes the water, but she has been known to surprise us with her reactions to things, so it was so nice to see her and her father having a great time in the water. She was going under and coming up with a huge smile on her face. The one thing she doens't quite like yet is when she has to turn over onto her back (even though Alex supports her). It just REALLY freaks her out. She hasn't quite got the idea of kicking down, but for first day, I am thrilled with how it went!
Afterwards we realized that Rainer probably would really enjoy the class, too. We opted not to put him in this time because he really doesn't have a natural love of the water--refuses to even sit down in the tub--but perhaps, we realized, that is all the more reason we should have had him in this class. We then realized that part of the decision is because I will be away a couple weekends of the lessons and Alex can't handle both of them in the water, so I think we'll sign him up for the next go-round.
Georgia does NOT like getting out of the water and going into the cold locker room to get dressed. I can tell you that much! She is ultra-sensitive to the cold!
These pictures are basically just proof (you know the ones, taken with a bad camera just to say "I did this" or "I was there."):
It's obviously very important that I prove it to ya'll! ;)
I think I will go look for a class just for Rainer now. We are thinking maybe gymnastics! Until he is ready to put these goggles into real action!
