We had our Bull, Shrimp & Oyster Roast fundraiser today for the local DS parent group. 50/50 raffle was up to $900 (prize was $450). I was holding a friend's ticket b/c she had to leave early. She won! That's awesome, right? But also...not the funnest. You go up to get the prize, everyone cheers for you. And the money? It's not yours. Boooooooooo....
For the record, nobody in our family won the iPad either.
But! It was a fun time. And I am exhausted!
What sorts of fundraisers do your local DS groups put on?

DSAGSL does a wine and cheese event (which is far too fru fru for me) and an annual trivia event, of which there are hundreds every year in our area, big StL thing. Then of course the big one is the walk, which is in June... in St. Louis... and it's always been about 100 degrees. So we don't go to any, and sometimes I feel a bit bad, but not so much.
Wow, that sounds really catty there. I must be in a mood. I am a new parent support volunteer and a playgroup coordinator. Does that help redeem my lack of fundraising involvement? probably not.

Yea for those good people who support in small, medium and large ways.

Cincinnati does A LOT of events for fundraising. There's the Buddy Walk, of course. There's a triathlon (Tri for Joe) in the spring and a 5K on World DS Day. There's a large golf outing in the summer that's sponsored by a former NFL player. There's a variety of smaller events scattered here and there too.
We, um, only participate in the Buddy Walk.
