For whatever reason, Rainer doesn't pee much. I mean, don't get me wrong, he goes through his share of pull-ups, but for a two and a half year old kid, as his MOTHER, I have literally only actually SEEN him go less than 10 times (and that's probably being generous). I remember when I was told I was having a boy I thought I needed to immediately go out and purchase stock in PeePee TeePees, certain that otherwise I would be doused several times daily.
As it turns out, thankfully I suppose, I haven't once been peed upon by my son. In fact, there was a time early on when our pedi- had some concerns (which I won't get into here) and she requested that I get a looksee when he was peeing and it took a good two weeks or so before I ever saw him make a tinkle.(And our concerns were laid to rest.)
All this to say that while there was a brief (heavenly) stint when Rainer was all-but potty-trained as far as Number Two is concerned, he never even made a drop on the potty of the yellow stuff. <--ew.
These days, Rainer isn't much into giving any of it up (he's a holder, internet, if you must know) and it gives me no end of angina. (I kid. Mostly I just pull-up and shut up because I don't want to stress the tyke out more than necessary, more than he clearly already is.)
Anyhoodle, the other day he got to eyeing the "Too Big Bunny" (of the chocolate variety) that came in his Easter basket (clearly the Easter Bunny wasn't thinking about who was going to eat that thing) and wondering why he hadn't taste a bite of the old rodent. Today I thought....hmmmm....and told Rainer that if he could make water in the potty we would open up that darned chocolate Peter (the RABBIT!) and he could have at it!
It took him awhile. And he was kind of shocked when it happened ("What's that?!") (Note: Yes, we have talked about it and even given tutorials so to speak), but man oh man, did that Too Big Bunny earn his keep! Rainer peed in the potty! And we threw a BIG old party about it. Hootin' and hollerin' and fist bumping and hugs. Rainer thought he was the Belle of the Ball! He kept asking Georgia for high fives.
So he got to eat as much of the bunny as he wanted. He ate most the ears...and then Alex sort of hinted that maybe we ought to put him away until the NEXT time Rainer goes on the pot.
It's the little victories, folks! And we're hopin' this will be the start of a nice relationship between our son and the tinkle tank.

Rabbit chocolate worked! Pretty cool huh? Might become the source for an AMA news blurb.

Hey, whatever it takes, right? We finally got my younger daughter crawling at 17 months with saltine crackers. At four and a half, we haven't quite found the magic trick to potty training for her, but if I found out that a chocolate bunny would work for her, I'd SO be taking out stock in Hershey.
