...not doing something you hoped they'd do? This picture is proof that they just might yet surprise you.
See what Georgia is doing there? She's painting! Not only is she painting, she is supporting the paper with her other hand. And while her grip isn't great on the paintbrush in that one.
In this one it is!
A gentle reminder and a little help repositioning it, and she's willing to paint like that, too.
A few months ago? I honestly thought Georgia might just never write or color or paint in any real way. Now I realize just how ridonkulous and fatalistic that thinking was.
This kid is surprising me at every turn. She keeps me on my toes and she is the greatest Christmas Eve ever. By that, I mean, she's better than Christmas...she's the anticipation of Christmas. Always.
I sent a copy of the photo to Georgia's teacher and OT because I truly don't know if we'd have gotten here without their help. I am so very thankful for the wonderful team we had this year! I hope next year's team is as supportive and believes in Georgia just as much or more! Sometimes, though I hate to admit it, they get me believing things about my girl's abilities before I am ready to commit. I am vowing to get better about that. I need to believe in my gal because...well? Why the hell not? She keeps proving herself with or without me. I hereby apologize for my doubts (which are really fears, of course, though no more justified).

What GREAT pictures!
I do love having high expectations. I guess sometimes I pretend to have them if I'm not fully certain, but I think pretending has its value.
And I absolutely agree about the Christmas eve.

"she's the anticipation of Christmas. Always."
Tricia, this is just about the most beautiful thing I've ever read. You're making me cry before I've drunk my coffee even.

Look how cute they are! And I think what you say here is so important. I know that my guy continues to surprise me.
